what do i use to install the Narolez forwarder channel .wad for the usb loader
You need Wad Manager 1.4. Be very careful, as it is easy to brick your Wii when installing channels. That is why the instructions are not included in the tutorial. Follow the instructions in the software carefully.
Hi my cfg usb loader hangs up when i change view from flow z 1 with d-pad down to the next view.
i couldn't read exactly whats the errormessage is (to fast reboot) but all i can see is error:idat crc
Do you have a glue how i can fix this to get all views? Thanks in advance.

Which version of Configurable are you on? There were some coverflow issues with some recent versions. Try upgrading to v41 and see if you still get the problems. If you are already on v41, try going back to earlier versions and see if it works there. E.g., go back to v38 (which is still available via online updates) and try it to see if the coverflow modes work there. If not, then things are very weird, but if it does work, keep trying the other versions until you find which one broke it and report here.
Hi again ! (just posted a little question about the hermes ios 222/223 ;) )
I want to say thanks again for your great work, always easy to read and to do.
I followed your tutorial and got cfg usb loader working with the GAF theme. My little problem is that it doesnt seem to be able download game covers. When i choose the download all missing covers, i get a bunch of errors (404 not found and other nice things i can't remember). Surprisingly, it managed eventually to download the cover for Wii sports resort, but couldnt do it for MH tri.
Do you have an idea about what could be the reason?
Thanks a lot :D
The first cover site in the default list of sites is currently undergoing maintenance. Cfg loader tries several sites, but it always tries them in the same order. I assume the reason why it didn't get MH Tri is because none of the other cover sites have the cover in their database. You can easily temporarily change the cover sites Cfg uses with the "cover_url*" options.
If you have a Windows PC, run my Configurator app which is available on the Configurable Options page and remove the wiitdb.com lines from the list for the cover_url* options. Save that to your config.txt (and you can add your ios=222-mload line for your other problem there too) and it will only use the other sites. WiiTDB will apparently be back any day now, so you could just leave it too.
Hey again !
I guess you're right. I'll just for the site to be up again !
Thanks for your help ;)
I want to install the forwarder so the Loader shows as a Channel. Instructions are simple - use WAD Manager to install it as a file. But I'm a noob. WAD Manager loads and the first thing it asks is what IOS to use. It defaults to 249. Do I leave it at 249 or change it to 36 - which I had to do when installing other things?
Use IOS249. Once you have it installed, it is generally the best choice.
How do you do this if there is a file limit of 4GB allowed on FAT32 and all wii isos are bigger than 4GB? Can't wait to try this when I buy a new wii…..
A special file format is used and games are split over multiple 2GB files.
I have Game ISO on my computer which are not burned on DVD yet. How i can transfer to external HDD so USB loader can recognize.
I prefer to use FAT32.
You stop being a filthy pirate, buy the game and you install that disc using Configurable USB Loader.
Use wbfs_file to convert it :
http://code.google.com/p/cfg-loader/downloads/list?can=1&q=wbfs_file&colspec=Filename+Summary+Uploaded+ReleaseDate+Size+DownloadCount
Open a dos prompt, navigate to wbfs_file folder (if you don't know how : http://www.online-tech-tips.com/computer-tips/how-to-use-dos-command-prompt/) then type :
wbfs_file.exe ''X:\wbfs\name_of_the_game.iso'' convert Y\:wbfs.
In this example, the game is in a wbfs folder located at the root of the X drive and the converted iso will be created in a wbfs folder at the root of the Y drive.

i have been waiting for this config usbloader to load my first game: Bully:Scholarship Edition for something like 15 mins !!!
its driving me crazy !!!!!!
how much time does it take, to load games, on an average ?
Hi, on the Preparing your hard drive section, on the last part where it says "If you still want to create a separate WBFS partition on your drive", the last bullet says "When using your drive in the Wii, it MUST be in the outer Wii USB port (i.e., nearer to the edge)", which is the usb port 0 if I understand. This indication gives the idea that when using a FAT drive, you could use either usb port on the wii, but right on the next section (Using the Loader), the first bullet point says "Your drive MUST be connected in the USB slot closer to the outside edge of the Wii."… which implies that no matter which drive format one uses, you can only use usb port 0…
Can the usb port 1 (the one farthest to the edge of the wii) be used to read games in any situation? Maybe when using FAT drives?
Thanks for your support btw!
Both methods require usage of Port 0. I have removed the ambiguity from the page. Keep an eye on the Cfg thread on GBATemp if you have a need for Port 1 loading. One of our members is making his own external ehc_module and a new version of IOS222 to support Port 1 to make the Wii support both ports of the Wii.
Hello Experts , i had the usb Loader running for a while up until my wii sd card reader broke down , i inserted the sd card using acrd reader to the closest usb slot and the wbfs HD to the second and started the loader apparently it works but , i am unable to get covers or updates due to the reason that it look for a path sd/apps/usbloader whic does not exists , how and where do i modify the path to be fat\apps\… , or is there another more preferred solution to run both the loader and the games from the usb

I'm actually quite amazed that works! This situation was considered impossible, but I guess it makes sense. The HBC can see your FAT external hard drive in port 1 (it has no idea you are using a card adapter there) and can launch Cfg. Once launched, Cfg will never look in port 1 for the loader, so will default to assuming the SD card is where the base directory should be.
It is possible oggzee might make a new version of the loader that will support your setup, but it might take a while or not happen at all.
There are better ways to remove access to the SD slot, though. What you need is a FAT partition on the drive that has your games on it. If you already have one, just copy the sd:/apps and sd:/usb-loader directories to the same spot on the FAT partition and everything will start working again. If your drive is currently fully partitioned to WBFS, you need to transfer the games off there, repartition the drive and then put the games back on. In this case, you might as well take the opportunity to transition to a fully FAT32 drive using the WBFS to FAT Transfer method.
Greetings,
I have many years experience with computer hardware to include building, operating and repair, plus a bit of programming and hacking experience as well. However, I'm a total NooB on the Wii.
I bought a Wii (4.1U) for my 8 yo granddaughter and decided to hack it so that she could load her games from a FAT32 USB stick or HD rather than the original discs. My first hack was "New 3.1-4.1 SoftMod for Any Wii" which went fine." Next I started to install installing the Config USB Loader. At step 5 of the installation procedure it barfed with a "can't find IOS222" message. I'd decided not to install 222/223 after reading through the instrustions many times, believing that it was optional.
Nooooo problem; figured I'd just install Hermes' 222/223. I chose the offline option and downloaded all the files on my PC UNTIL I tried to get title ID 000000010000003C v6174 with NUS. IOS60 is now a stub (&%^$>?:"~!+, etc, etc, etc.)
I looked everywhere and was able to get a IOS60 v6174 Wad, but not the required 000000010000003C v6174 file set. I found ShowMiiWads.exe and it "converted" the Wad into a series of files similar to those found in 0000000100000025 v3612 and 0000000100000026v3610, but these have .app extensions plus a 000000010000003c.cert, .tic and .tmd file not found in the other two sets. So, I'm not sure if I can rename and use these files or not.
Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
'Buster'
The stubbed version of IOS60 is a later version than v6174. You can still download v6174 using NUS Downloader. Just make sure you enter the version number before downloading it (either via database or by manually entering it).
Edit: And IOS222/223 is only optional for WBFS formatted drives.
Worked just as you said, first time.
Yesterday I tried that same thing at least a dozen times, both directly and via the database. Direct method gave me a download error and database said stubbed???
Anyway, thanks a Million for having me try it one more time :o)
And of course, big props for you great support to Wii users.
Warm regards,
Buster…
